Zavrč

In the Municipality of Zavrč, the wine-growing Haloze hills reach their northernmost point, enclosed by the Drava River, which flows here from Ptuj and Markovec. In the past, the Drava River greatly influenced the development of the settlement; even the very origin of the Church of St. Mary is said to be connected to a shipwreck of rafters and their fortunate escape from the raging river at the settlement of Zavrč. The longest-standing tradition in this part of Haloze is viticulture.
