On the Dravsko polje plain, the Ravno polje destination has taken shape – a wide, open landscape of expansive fields surrounded by the countless hills of Haloze, Slovenia’s oldest town Ptuj, the pilgrimage site Ptujska Gora, the picturesque Pohorje range, and Slovenia’s second-largest city, Maribor.

The destination takes its name from Ravno polje Manor, which served its purpose from the late Renaissance period onward. Many noble families once passed through its doors, but today the once-mighty manor has largely collapsed in on itself. Although only ruins remain, tourism is reviving the stories of its past – and so the folk song is still often sung: “Down there on the Ravno polje plain, there stands a white castle …”

The municipalities of Hajdina, Kidričevo, Miklavž na Dravskem polju, Rače–Fram, and Starše offer a relaxed getaway in a peaceful setting, far from the bustle of the city.
