Monument to the Fallen Soldiers of World War I in Juršinci

The war memorial stands in the center of Juršinci, in front of the Dr. Anton Slodnjak Cultural Center and near the parish church. It has the form of a triumphal arch, into which a white marble plaque is set, engraved with the names of fallen soldiers. The appearance of the monument is completed by an urn with fiery flames and the years 1914–1918 on top of the arch, as well as a military cross with flared ends. The inscription on the plaque reads: “In memory of the fallen soldiers of the World War from the parish of St. Lovrenc in Slovenske gorice.”

The monument bears the names of 93 fallen soldiers from the villages of Juršinci, Zagorci, Dragovič, Sakušak, and Hlaponci. Each soldier’s name is accompanied by the years of birth and death. In 1999, the Municipality of Juršinci added a black marble plaque to the memorial, dedicated to all victims of the Second World War.
