Timber rafting on the Drava River

Discover the history of rafting and take a traditional log raft down the Drava River, just like in the old days. But a raftmen’s “rajža” was never easy—so you’ll roll up your sleeves too! You’ll prepare a raftmen’s meal, brew rafting coffee over an open fire, and paddle with a real raftmen’s oar.

On a small raft called a “hlodovec” (log raft), we’ll cruise to Maribor’s Lent, once an old harbour for rafts and boats and a centre of the timber trade. We’ll enjoy a good glass of wine and great company.

On board:

• Learn about the equipment raftmen once needed for their work

• Try yourself in different raftmen roles

• Experience a real raftmen’s baptism

• Listen to raftmen anecdotes and stories about the river spirit Gestrin

• Start: Koblar Bay

• Finish: Water Tower on Lent

• 2 people: €140 per person

• 3–4 people: €85 per person

• 5–6 people: €62 per person

• 11–12 people: €39 per person

*In case of bad weather or unfavourable conditions, the organiser reserves the right to change the course of the cruise or to run the raft programme indoors.
