Maribor Municipality
Maribor Regional Museum
Housed in the city’s dominant castle building in the centre of the Styrian capital, the Maribor Regional Museum is a modern institution with beautifully curated exhibitions that introduce visitors to the city’s history from the Neolithic period to the early 20th century.
The exhibitions present archaeological excavations in the region, the origins of the city, and Maribor’s economic, cultural and religious past, as well as that of the wider area.
The highlight of a walk through the castle is the magnificent Knights’ Hall, adorned with rich ceiling paintings and stucco work. Visitors can also step into the Loreto Chapel and finish their visit in style—with a walk up one of the most beautiful Rococo staircases in Slovenia!
The Partizan Cinema is also part of the Maribor Regional Museum; it hosts temporary exhibitions and follows the same opening hours as the museum.
