Rače Castle

grad rače
Rače Castle is an example of a flat island or water castle - a castle, additionally protected by a high moat. The history of the building dates back to the first half of the 16th century, when a castle with four wings and Gothic-Renaissance portals was built.
Inside the castle, in addition to the chapel dedicated to St. John of Nepomuk, the most interesting is the "White Hall", which currently serves as a wedding hall. Due to its acoustics, it is also suitable for various concerts.
Today there are spaces in the city for the municipal office, the local office, a cinema hall, a private ethnological collection, a painting studio, and to a lesser extent, private apartments.
The appearance of the castle has changed over time, with the change of owners and the penetration of different styles through the centuries. The charter mentioning the first owner of the castle, Gregor Regal from Rač, was issued on April 26, 1534. Numerous owners followed, the last one being Vincenc Bachler Jr., a member of the Bachler family, who sold the estate and castle at an auction.
